Whoever said you can’t wear white after Labor Day must not have celebrated the Holidays in style. A satin white dress is a great option for your more elevated Holiday occasions — galas, Nutcrackers, concerts, etc. Adding in a cozy texture, like this fur cape, transforms the look from a simple white gown to an elegant winter moment for your most refined seasonal celebrations. It’s classy, regal, and worthy of a grand entrance.

Nothing says “‘tis the season” quite like burgundy, velvet, and silver shine, and this look is the ultimate combination for your holiday parties. I’m pairing this flirty mini dress with matching burgundy polka dot tights and silver-bowed heels. It’s cute, festive, and just a little bit naughty – perfect for the hostess who knows how to own the room!

Whether it’s New Year’s Eve or late-night drinks with your girlfriends, everyone needs an outfit that’s as scandalous as it is stylish in their Holiday wardrobe. I’m wearing an all-black look: micro-shorts, a long-sleeve mockneck top, and lace tights – a detail inspired by Kendall Jenner’s latest Calzedonia campaign. Finish the look with your favorite black pumps, a statement coat, and don’t you dare forget the red lipstick.

theglamAnother great way to elevate your looks during the holiday season is by adding just a tiny bit more sparkle and color to your makeup routine. The light smoky eyeshadow paired with a classic red lip and a little extra highlighter is the perfect way to be festive, without overdoing it. Add in a deep red blush to tie everything together, and you’ve got the recipe for a classic holiday glam! ✨

A Festive Escape at Hotel Carmichael
Nestled in the heart of Carmel is one of the most elegant and luxurious places in Indiana: the Hotel Carmichael. The first time I got to experience a stay at Hotel Carmichael was back in April, when Donavan and I had the most amazing weekend staycation, but this time around we got to experience it during the magic of the holidays – and it was even more perfect. From drinks at their Adagio Lounge being serenaded by the piano, the luxurious rooms, a festive walk through the Carmel Christkindlmarkt, to a divine meal at their restaurant, Vivante, it is the perfect place to celebrate the holiday season.
Even though I have walked through this hotel countless times, I am always in awe as I first enter the doors. The lobby is composed of black-and-white checkered floors, glass chandeliers, a grand stairwell, large arched windows, and just the perfect amount of Christmas decor. It’s tasteful and refined, leaving you no doubt that your visit will feel the same. If you arrive right at 4 p.m., you’ll be just in time for their daily champagne toast in the Adagio Lounge that honors The Great American Songbook, which inspired the hotel’s aesthetic. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love being greeted by a complimentary glass of bubbles?
We checked into our room, which is, of course, just as elevated as the lobby: a king-size bed, a velvet chaise, another glass chandelier, the most spacious bathroom, and a window overlooking the Christkindlmarkt below. I unpacked my suitcase and hung my clothes in the wardrobe and prepared myself for my favorite part of any hotel stay: getting ready for the night out. My ritual has become ordering a glass of champagne to the room, taking a long shower, putting on the hotel robe, and getting all glammed up in the luxurious vanity (*cue Kris Jenner’s famous line, “I know, it’s my dream.”). After taking my time and enjoying getting ready, I was all set for our evening activities.
The best part of staying at Hotel Carmichael during the Holidays is the Christkindlmarkt right in front of the hotel, which is another seasonal favorite of mine. For those of you who don’t know, I spent a year and a half living in Germany during high school, and I’m well acquainted with an authentic German Christmas market, so I like to think it holds weight when I say that this one is very close to the real thing! Plus, one thing I was pleased to learn this year is that the Carmel Christkindlmarkt has strict rules about products being of German origin, so if you don’t want to take my word for it, at least take theirs. If you’ve never been before, you can expect to enjoy anything from German cuisine, hand-crafted ornaments, live music, children’s crafts, and ice skating. My personal favorite, and probably one of the most popular attractions, is Gluwein (mulled wine), which is made by heating up wine, making it a bit sweeter, and adding spices like cinnamon sticks, cloves, and cardamom. It’s delicious, cozy, and great for keeping you warm on a cold December night. I suggest carving out an evening to take your time to enjoy all of the different foods, explore the decorations, and, if you book it ahead of time, get on the rink! However, this time around we simply enjoyed a cup of Gluwein and a stroll around before heading to our dinner reservations at Vivante.
If you know me, you know that I absolutely love to be wined and dined, and Vivante has always done that exceptionally well, but this time they raised the bar. When we showed up for our reservation, we were escorted to one of their outdoor chalets – a private outdoor greenhouse with a table large enough for six, and yet again the most tasteful tablescape of decor. Our dinner started with a round of drinks and one of our favorite Vivante appetizers: crab cakes. For my entrée I ordered the scallops, which were paired with risotto, mushrooms, asparagus, and delicata squash, and were absolutely divine. Donavan ordered the burger, which, basic as it may sound, is one of the best burgers in town with its brioche bun, caramelized onions, and gruyere cheese. We finished off the meal with their chocolate entremet – a dessert of theirs that I think about more often than I’d like to admit. From drinks to entrées to dessert, everything was delicious as ever, and we had the most perfect dining experience. Whether it’s during a stay at the hotel or simply popping in for dinner, the outdoor chalets are a great seasonal touch to an even better meal.
I didn’t think our stay at Hotel Carmichael could get better than it was in April, but it did. With the Christmas decor, Christkindlmarkt, and dinner in the outdoor chalet, it was the perfect way to get into the Holiday spirit and enjoy all of the surrounding perks of the hotel’s location. For all of my local friends, or for anyone visiting town, I couldn’t recommend Hotel Carmichael more for a stay during the Holidays. With details that make everything feel intentional and elevated, it’s more than a room for the night — it’s an experience that will allow you to slow down, soak up some holiday charm, and treat yourself to a little luxury this season. I promise you deserve it.
